Climate Change
In March 2024, Y2K was awarded funding from Midlothian Climate Action in order to create a dedicated Wellbeing Garden for young people to enjoy.
Young people can learn about a wide range of environmental themed topics at the Wellbeing Garden.
The Wellbeing Garden offers grow your own spaces, relaxation zones and wildlife friendly areas.
The garden space will be a safe, dedicated space where young people can spend time, learn about a wide range of environmental themed topics and benefit from being outdoors. We have so far had lots of support from local people and businesses to start the work, including young people volunteering their time to paint and plant. Over the coming months, we will be spending lots of time on further developing our fantastic garden, introducing grow your own spaces, relaxation zones and wildlife friendly areas.
Explore climate change! Y2K workshops: Science, art, action for a healthy planet.
As well as our Wellbeing garden, we deliver a wide range of climate change workshops with young people, that aim to increase their understanding of the impact of climate change and how we can help to look after our planet. Our young people have enjoyed becoming scientists for the day, researching the effects of greenhouse gases, taking on nature-based art projects and designing awareness raising posters.
