Sheryl Skelton

Name & Title:
Sheryl Skelton, Youth Worker

How long have you worked at Y2K?
2 1/2 years. Since 2009.

The best thing about working at Y2K is…
The young people of course! Also the commitment of the staff who work there!

What’s the best thing you have done in your time at Y2K?
Very recently, winning the Standard Life Chairman’s Awards for Education and People Development which resulted in £1000 for Y2K to carry out the Wristband Project in memory of Dale Bennett. If all goes to plan this will mean a profit of around £1700.00 for Y2K and will also raise awareness of Knife Crime as well as creating a memorial in the village in memory of Dale. Hopefully a lot of the Young People will be involved with this designing posters, selling wristbands etc.

Hobbies & Interests:
Don’t really have time for hobbies – I like going to see live bands and listening to music, watching my 8-year-old play football. I also enjoy organising events (mainly fundraisers etc).

Interesting fact about yourself:
I sat in the front row of the Glasgow X Factor auditions right behind Gary Barlow – I might be on the telly in the Autumn/Winter so eyes peeled!

Motto or Favourite Saying:
“Im starving!”
“Don’t judge until you’ve ran a mile in the other person’s shoes.”
